Frequently asked questions
On your first appointment we will go through your health history intake form, and I will ask you some questions regarding what you have written down and your massage preferences, to get a better understanding of you as a person and what your goals are so we can create the most effective treatment plan going forward. I am happy to answer any questions at any time during the appointment. I like to take a professional but personalised approach to every patient I treat and have your comfort in mind.
Before treatment I may conduct a brief assessment and discuss with you the findings so that we can get the best possible treatment plan in place. I will then leave the room so that you can dress down to your comfort level (some people prefer to dress down to their underwear and some people prefer to be fully clothed). Whatever you decide as an RMT I am held to the highest of ethical standards and will ensure your comfort and privacy is respected at all times. To address your concerns, it may be beneficial for direct skin contact and with the use of a lotion or oil but your comfort is my primary concern.
During treatment only the part of the body I am working on will be uncovered. I will periodically check in with you regarding pressure, draping and any pain you might feel during the massage. At any time you can end the treatment.
After treatment I will leave the room so that you can get dressed and would conduct a reassessment to see if there has been any improvement and to see how you are feeling. I may suggest some homecare (anything from minor stretches or strengthening exercises to some hydrotherapy) so that we can try and prevent or decrease the symptoms further in order to promote health and wellbeing.

I currently only do home visits for those patients who have mobility or health implications which does not allow them to come to the clinic then I would travel to their home. If you would like to discuss this further, please use our contact form or email info@lissymitchellrmt.com
Late cancellations and missed appointments disrupt my schedule and affect other patients seeking treatment.
To respect both your therapist's time and the availability of appointments for other patients, I require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling.
For late cancellations or missed appointments, the full treatment fee will apply.
Please note that missed appointments cannot be direct billed to insurers or ICBC. Payments for all treatments whether private or insured is ultimately the responsibility of the patient.
